Google’s flagship wearable device—Google Glass—is now availablefor anyone in the US who wants to spend $1,500 on the smart spectacles some find fascinating and others find bizarre. The wider sale comes just shy of one month after a one-day special sale of Glass. The product made available then was sold out. Google said on Tuesday: “We learned a lot when we opened our site a few weeks ago, so we’ve decided to move to a more open beta. We’re still in the Explorer Program while we continue to improve our hardware and software, but starting today anyone in the US can buy the Glass Explorer Edition, as long as we have it on hand.” Many industry analysts and executives are predicting faster take up of gadgets such as smart glasses by enterprise users — such as doctors needing fast reference access while at work.
